...so every year I start paying attention to what's happening re the Oscar nominees, and a few weeks prior I go to the KPCC event at Egyptian Theatre (with Larry Mantle hosting various film critics...taped for radio...and then the day before the Oscars at the Egyptian they have the nominated editors talk about their experiences i a panel-style discussion with a moderator...and in the afternoon they have a panel discussion with the nominated production-designers ...among other events...and then on the day OF the oscars I make a point of trying to get a few pics of the red-carpet arrivals, ...depending on how the LAPD does crowd-control..sometimes you can get closer than other times...they change it every year ...I suppose so nobody can predict anything...this year they allowed people to go to the nearest intersection (hollywood & highland) after a while...and after padding us down for any weapons...and then there's another check-point...this year I didn't get past the 2nd check-point..they had too many people there already..so I saw a lot of VIP arrivals (various studio employees, maybe some relatives of some, but not as many of the nominated actors which come from the other direction on highland rather than hollywood)...thankfully it stopped raining for a while on sunday..so we weren't all standing in the rain..but saturday it was RAINING HARD almost all day..nonetheless, everything went as usual...and here's some of the pics I took.
